CONFERENCES NEXT WEEK: Scheduling forms were sent home this week with each child regarding Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences will be held next Thursday, February 9, from 3-7 p.m. Please return your scheduling form by Monday, February 6, so that we can accommodate everyone.

LENT WILL BEGIN SOON: February 22 is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. As we prepare your children at school to observe Lent, please help us by reinforcing the concepts of prayer, sacrifice, and especially by attending mass. Once again we will be distributing the purple t-shirts to every child and staff member to wear on the Fridays of Lent. Your child’s shirt will be sent home a few days before Ash Wednesday with a letter explaining the guidelines for wearing the shirts.

SVS PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION NEWS: This year’s Monte Carlo Night will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Remember all the fun from last year?! Let’s do it again! Save the date on your calendar and watch for more information to come home in the coming weeks!!!

CYO NEWS: Basketball practices are well underway! Parents - our insurance requires that children are to be supervised by an adult at all times in our building. Please do not drop your child off for practices until you know for sure that their coach is in the gym. Your child’s basketball coach or you as a parent are the only ones who can be held responsible for them. In addition, siblings are not to be waiting by the gym or in the gym for their sibling’s practice to begin or end, unless accompanied by a parent. If your child is staying after school for band, choir, tutoring, etc - they are to be picked up promptly and supervised by you until their basketball practice time. Students are not permitted to wait in or by the gym until their practice begins, without their coach or parent present. Aftercare is available, at the regular rate, for parents who can not transport their student back and forth. Please call the school office if you have any questions.

ALUMNI REUNION AND MASS: Our parish Office of Development is in the process of planning a St. Vincent School Reunion and Mass for April 29, 2012. We need volunteers to coordinate, gather information, and contact former students to make this event a success! If you can help, please contact Deacon Mike at the parish office 330-535-3135.

PLEASE SEND PHOTOS! Attention all parents, grandparents and amateur photographers: Anne Lawson, your new yearbook editor, will be taking pictures throughout the year, but she needs your help. Although she would love to attend every event, class party, and field trip, it just won’t be possible. Please consider contributing your best shots to the yearbook! You can send hard copies to school in an envelope marked “Anne Lawson - Yearbook” or email them to dranner42@neo.rr.com.

30/30 LEGACY GIFTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE: Last school year we began a campaign to replace the computers in the computer lab and the chairs in the library. If you are interested in making a donation to purchase a computer or chair, please call the school office for a form to be sent home to you. As of today, we have chairs and computers available to be sponsored. The cost of the chairs is $200, the computers $500. The order form includes space to customize the nameplate that will be attached to the chair or to the plaque outside the computer lab. This is a great gift to leave to SVS in your children’s or family’s name.
